Due diligence obligations

At mey, we are aware of our responsibility. We are an internationally oriented company that operates in a resource-intensive industry, which is also repeatedly criticised for its impact on people and the environment. That is why we have our efforts to uphold human rights and environmental standards comprehensively audited by independent third parties and have been OEKO-TEX® RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS certified since June 2024. 

As we see ourselves as part of the society in which we operate, the protection of all human rights and the preservation of our environment are particularly important to us. 

For this reason, we have drawn up a Code of Conduct that expresses our commitment to these issues and at the same time requires all our direct and indirect suppliers to observe human rights and environmental standards. The Code of Conduct is one of the key contractual documents of our business relationships. 

Responsible corporate behaviour is never complete. This is why we implement a risk management system to safeguard our corporate duty of care. We regularly – but at least once a year – review all of our internal processes and models, as well as our supply chains. 

As part of our risk management, our own business operations and our partner companies are assessed against the OECD sector risks for the textile and footwear industry in order to understand where actual or potential risks exist with regard to human rights violations or disregard for environmental standards and could lead to negative impacts. 

If we categorise identified risks as significant, we undertake to take measures and actively implement them in order to protect the rights of everyone in our supply chain. Our grievance mechanisms are also part of our risk management system. If our internal analysis and external dialogue fail to identify risks – despite all due diligence – we encourage our stakeholders to use the grievance mechanisms to draw our attention to potential or existing grievances.
